After 12 years, the ‘Mother of All Teleseryes,’ “Mara Clara,” comes home to ABS-CBN as the network relives the legacy that had served as the major core of local drama plots, soon on Primetime Bida.
Aired from August 17, 1992 until February 14, 1997, Mara Clara has been one of the highest-rated soap operas in the history of Philippine TV and is considered as one of the most unforgettable stories ever told on the boob tube. These are some of the facts that have pushed the network to do a remake of the classic family drama that has become a household tag by adding a modern twist to the mentioned 90’s television masterpiece.
Still circling on the story of two girls who were raised in two opposite worlds – one grew up in a comfortable and rich lifestyle while the other spent her childhood in slums- whose lives and fate are intertwined, Mara Clara will be topbilled by two promising young actresses of their time, Kathryn Bernardo as the new Mara and Julia Montes as the new Clara. Both will reprise the roles of two characters that have made a mark not only in local showbusiness marquee but also carved an indelible spot in the hearts of the Filipinos.
Directed by Jerome Pobocan, director of the now defunct top-rating primetime series “May Bukas Pa,” the new ‘Mara Clara’ will still have that magic that once captivated the Pinoy viewers for five years. “Nandoon pa rin ang kurot ng Mara Clara. Kung paano kayo naantig noon sa kwento at mga eksena, nandoon pa rin yung ‘magic’ na yoon sa remake nito,” Pobocan shared.
Mara Clara was the first Philippine drama series to have its own movie via Star Cinema in 1996 with the same title.
Reminisce the legacy and be part of the new “Mara Clara” as it airs starting October 25 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
