Arron, on the other hand, plays the role of Vladimir who has a soft spot in Maria’s heart.

Other cast members include Jake Roxas, Katya Santos, Gio Alvarez, Atoy Co, Jane Oineza, Badjie Mortiz and K Brosas.

Shot in scenic Tagaytay and Cavite, and with a script led by Denise O’Hara and Henry Quitain’s team, “Maria La Del Barrio” promises a whole new viewing experience. “Pinaghirapan po namin ang bawat eksena at mas pinaganda pa para mas lalo ninyong ma-enjoy ang panonood,” Erich expressed.

I like the pitch – “Ang dating luhaan ay magiging palaban…” It summarizes the plot of the story that sells very well to Pinoy televiewers.

However, I disagree with the opening phrase “The Telenovela that started it all.” It’s the telenovela “MariMar” that started the craze in the Philippines in the 90s and not this one, although, Maria la del Barrio was very much embraced by Filipinos just like the other Thalia-starrers.

“Maria la del Barrio” is another exciting Philippine remake of a Mexican telenovela airing soon on ABS-CBN. It stars the “kilig” love team of Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee.
