Veteran and new actors showcase acting prowess in “Sabel”.

“Magaling sina Jessy, Aj and Joseph.

Mother Lily's Lucky Charm was John Lapuz

Comedian/host John Lapus will spread luck, fun and cheer in the new version of Maricel Soriano’s blockbuster movie, Super Inday, which headlines Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

In the movie, John plays the Golden Bibe that grants super powers to Pinoy cinema’s so-called sexiest super heroine.
It should come as no wonder why John is a permanent fixture in Regal movies, his last being in Eugene Domingo’s box-office starrer, Mamarazzi.
To say the least, he is a favorite of lady producer Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo.
“John is my lucky charm sa mga Regal movie na nagawa namin. Basta merong role na puwede sa kanya, we don’t hesitate to cast him dahil bukod sa pagiging professional, may suwerte siyang hatid sa mga project ng Regal,” Mother Lily reveals.
John may have been a second choice for the Golden Bibe role, but the comedian has no qualms about it.
“Naku, I don’t care kung pang-ilang choice ako sa movie. Alam kong importante ang role ko at sapat na sa akin ’yon. Bukod diyan, friends kami ni Marian na kasama ko sa Show Me Da Manny, so, bakit ko naman tatanggihan ang project na alam kong maganda at magaan ang mga kasama, ’di ba?” John explains.
This generous nature wouldn’t go unnoticed since this early, the grateful Regal matriarch has her eyes set on giving John his own solo starrer earmarked for release sometime next year.
Meantime, John, as the Golden Bibe, not only wields his super powers in Super Inday but spreads hilarious moments as well.
With comedienne Pokwang also in the cast, the fantasy filmfest entry definitely spells not just double but triple fun on Christmas Day!
In Super Inday, Marian, John and Pokwang are ably supported by Jake Cuenca, Mylene Dizon, Buboy Villar, Jairus Aquino, Sheena Halili and a lot more!

Comedienne Pokwang unleashes her best-kept

Comedienne Pokwang unleashes her best-kept zany antics in her first project as a Regal Baby in Regal Entertainment’s Metro ManilaFilm Festival entry, Super Inday, topbilled by the country’s sexiest super heroine Marian Rivera.

[Regal Films]
Having the Kapuso Primetime Queen for a co-star in the remake of aMaricel Soriano blockbuster film, Pokwang knew she had to give Super Inday everything she’s got to be worthy of lady producer Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo’s trust.
In the movie, Pokwang plays a mayordoma who unwittingly earns super powers herself that transform her into an accidental hero.
Work between the Kapamilya artist (Pokwang) and Kapuso talent (Marian) proved to be a breeze while shooting Super Inday. Mariankept Pokwang on her toes and egged her on days when the comedienne needed a push in tackling her physically taxing character.
For her part, Pokwang managed to shine in the movie even when she is no sexy babe as her title role co-star is.
And she did this by way of her comic antics, which lent extremely hilarious scenes to Super Inday. This is not to mention, her body-hugging costume which revealed much of her “curves” as well.
“Grabe! Super-fit talaga ang costume ko sa ‘Super Inday’! Wala akong keber kahit bumakat ang tambok ko at kurbang-kurba ang boobs ko! Maski sa ganoong paraan, makabawi at mapansin naman ako ng manonood! Hahaha! Carry naman, ’di ba?” Pokwang proudly states.
With the irrepressible comedienne around, plus the tried and tested comic flair of another co-star, John “Sweet” Lapus, Direk Mike Tuviera’s set was all but riotous fun day-in and day-out.
Be ready as Pokwang and the entire Super Inday cast tickle your funny bones and send you laughing at the edge of your seats when the film opens on Christmas Day.

the new chapter of the hit teleserye “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine.”

Actor Zanjoe Marudo continues to show versatility in his craft after his character underwent several changes in the opening of the new chapter of the hit teleserye “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine.”

Far from the simple and playful Jaime, Zanjoe’s character now is more serious about life and is more ambitious. This after Jaime finally embraced his true identity as Bernard de Silva-Fortalejo, the heir of two of the most powerful families in Paso De Blas.
That is why from the fields where he used to toil, Zanjoe’s character can now be seen dressed formally whenever he sits in the boardroom of his family’s company.
“Heto na ang challenge sa akin bilang aktor…ang transition mula sa pagiging Jaime papunta sa pagiging Bernard. Si Jaime kasi masiyahin siya, wala pa siyang baggage na dinadala. Si Bernard, mas confident, mas malalaki na ang goals hindi lang sa sarili kundi para rin sa ibang tao,” said the Prince of Passion.
He added that unlike Jaime, whose world revolved around Jewel (Cristine Reyes), Bernard is wise enough to strive to continue his life without his former love. Part of his moving-on phase, of course, is meeting new women. This week, we saw sparks fly between Bernard and Dianna, played by Bangs Garcia.

“Habang wala si Jewel, magiging mag-kaibigan si Bernard at Dianna. Abangan na lang ng mga tao kung saan mapupunta ang relasyon nila,” Zanjoe teased.
Aside from Bangs, two more sexy young actresses are joining the cast— Iya Villania and Kristel Moreno. With the entry of new characters, Zanjoe said there will be more love stories and storylines to follow for the viewers in the epic TV adaptation of the number one best selling pocketbook series in the Philippines.
In the coming week, Jewel will face a threat of danger from a person who knows her real identity. Bernard will also discover Dianna’s deep dark secret that could spell doom to their blooming romance. Still, their story will end up with a marriage proposal from Bernard, who thought all this time that Jewel is dead.
Meanwhile, Scarlet (Iya) and Marco de Silva (Rafael Rosell) also begin to get closer to each other, while the paths of Nathaniel (JM de Guzman) and Jasmin (Kristel Moreno) will cross again after their awkward first meeting.
Also watch out for Jewel’s return to Paso De Blas, who lost all her memory after surviving the explosion. Don’t miss the thrilling and romantic episodes of the teleserye that brings life to your nights, “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine, Ang Ikalawang Yugto,” after “Imortal” on ABS-CBN.

“Pilipinas Got Talent” is set to conquer your TV screens once more

The country’s biggest nationwide talent-reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” is set to conquer your TV screens once more as its much-awaited second season kicks off this first quarter of 2011.

Auditions started recently where thousands of hopefuls coming from Visayas and Mindanao flocked to the Cebu Institute of Technology University in Cebu and Philippine Women’s College in Davao and showed what they got in hopes of following the footsteps of PGT’s first grand winner Jovit Baldivino.
The team only visited two locations but the turnout of applicants already surpassed the combined number of applicants who auditioned in almost 20 cities during the first season.
“The number of people who auditioned is very overwhelming. We cant event take a break because the number of hopefuls to be interviewed and to be watched will surely pile up in a matter of minutes,” said Rancy Recato, Executive Producer of PGT.
Pinoys showed better and more intense talents be it singing, dancing, or even unique and unconventional acts.
Even applicants during the first season auditioned once more and trying their second shot at stardom.
“Pilipinas Got Talent” is indeed one of the most successful and most watched talent-reality show on Philippine TV and its grand winner Jovit Baldivino is definitely soaring greater heights with the break given to him by the show. Even finalists like the breakdancing Velasco Brothers, Ezra Band, singers Sherwin Baguion and Markki Stroem, magician Alakim, ventriloquist Ruther Urquia, and guitarist Keith Clark Delleva are already making their marks and taking their respective paths in the industry.
The show also performed very well in ratings. It was able to hit a high of 43.1% only on its second week of airing based on national ratings data from Kantar Media.
PGT also trended a couple of times in the famous social networking site Twitter, which only proves how widely viewed the show is by Pinoys worldwide.
To all PGT hopefuls, you can audition on Dec 15 and 16 at the Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan, and on Dec 18 and 19 at the ABS-CBN complex in Manila. Everyone is welcome to join, be it young or old; solo or in groups; as long as you have the talent to sing, dance, do magic, do extreme exhibitions, and any other possible form of talents. Other audition legs on other parts of the country will be held on January 2011.
Are you the next “Pilipinas Got Talent” grand winner? Which act will bring home the victory this second season? Watch out as the show returns very soon on ABS-CBN.

Regal Entertainment matriarch Lily Monteverde with Shaina Magdayao. "Mamanyika"

Being given the stellar role in the Mamanyika episode of the horror trilogy Shake, Rattle & Roll XII only goes to show how much faith and trust Regal Entertainment matriarch Lily Monteverde with Shaina Magdayao.

This year’s Shake, Rattle & Roll is the 12th installment in the movie outfit’s successful horror franchise in the annual Metro Manila Film Festival.
“She’s very beautiful at mabait na bata. Very angelic ang face at magaling na artista,” Mother Lily says of one of the prime artists of Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm.
Shaina has done quite a number of movies for Regal, but her SR&R XII episode is, by far, the most challenging as the Mamanyika story revolves around her character.
In “SR&R XII,” Shaina’s longing for her dead mother (Jackie Lou Blanco) leads her to a doll which she finds lying all dirty beside her mom’s grave.
Unknown to her, the doll was previously owned by a woman who was so desperate to bear a child. Out of sheer desperation, the woman sought the devil’s help in breathing life to the doll which, in turn, was later on possessed and killed anyone who came in its path.
In real life, Shaina is not fond of dolls. In fact, she is scared of them. Yet, the young actress managed to conquer this fear while working on the Mamanyika episode.
Hahaha! Baka sa aspetong ’yon takot na takot si Shaina!”
Anyway, call it intentional or what, the thing is, Shaina was still able to deliver the gripping performance needed for the part in Regal Entertainment’s horrific Christmas trilogy package, “Shake, Rattle & Roll XII.”

The crusade of the Filipino for the Filipino is about to begin.

From ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, comes a program with the courage to take a stand and fight for change in the country— “Krusada.”

This Thursday (Dec 9) after “Bandila,” “Krusada” will start acting on and responding to the biggest and most pressing issues in each sector of society, spearheaded by the best and veteran journalists of ABS-CBN such as Ted Failon, Ces Drilon, Henry Omaga-Diaz, Lynda Jumilla, Gus Abelgas, Dyan Castillejo, Karen Davila, Julius Babao, and Noli “Kabayan” De Castro.
“We don’t effect change with words alone. Sometimes, we have to take a stand. ABS-CBN journalists are ready to become true agents of change and it is through ‘Krusada’ that they can push for their own advocacies for the Filipino people,” said ABS-CBN Head for News and Current Affairs Ging Reyes.
This is why in the first airing of “Krusada,” Ces Drilon will tackle an issue that is especially close to her heart—the issue on reproductive health. Drilon visited Fabella Hospital, a hospital in Manila renowned for delivering babies. Here she met Aling Zeny who has given birth to her tenth child. Zeny said that she didn’t want another child after their last. However, they had no access to contraceptives.
Drilon also went to Baseco, Manila where she met Evelyn who was pregnant with her eighth child. The mother doubts as to whether they can still send their children to college. Meanwhile, another mother, Marissa is pregnant with her seventh child and plans to have her child adopted the moment she gives birth.
Their different narratives show the need for a more effective and comprehensive family planning program. A reproductive health program that will protect the women and the children is Drilon’s crusade for the country.
Advocacy journalism that gives a clear standpoint and concrete action—this is what “Krusada” is all about. Because true public service is propelled by action, not merely words.
Watch out for the airing of “Krusada” this Thursday night (Dec 9), after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN.

Aljur Abrenica will play the role of “Machete"

It was announced on Showbiz Central today that Aljur Abrenica will play the role of “Machete” in a GMA primetime series set to air next year.

The Kapuso hunk actor is very happy that GMA gave him the coveted role which is also being considered for Dingdong Dantes. Even the original Machete, Cesar Montano, agrees that Aljur is perfect to reprise the role he played once in a Seiko Films movie back in 1990.
Machete is a story about a wooden Igorot warrior statue who comes to life and turns into a neighborhood stud. Cesar Montano is the first actor to play the role in 1990 and Gardo Versoza reprised the role in a sequel also made by Seiko films last 1994. On television, Joseph Bitangcol played the role in an episode of Komiks last 2006 on ABS-CBN. It was also briefly played by Derek Ramsay in Super Inggo, also in 2006.
Early next year (2011), the classic story of the wooden hunk sculpture will come to life once again as GMA will adapt the material as a primetime series to be shown under the telebabad block.
Who do you want to play Aljur’s 2 leading ladies reprising the roles of Rita Avila and Rosanna Roces? Perhaps these young Kapuso actresses are in the running: Nadine Samonte, Jennica Garcia, Jackie Rice, Ryza Cenon, Bianca King, or Sarah Lahbati. Or perhaps Aljur will get reunited with his former screen partner Kris Bernal? We’ll see.

After the heartwarming ‘Sa Puso ng Pasko’, Going Bulilit stars go action.

They’re always seen doing gags and cracking the country’s most humorous jokes. But now on their sixth year, the most-talked-about Going Bulilit stars are ready to showcase their versatility in the action-filled tale Going Bulilit Presents Wag Mo Akong Galitin this Sunday, after TV Patrol Weekend.
Last week, in Going Bulilit Presents Sa Puso ng Pasko, the witty Bulilits proved that besides comedy, they can also perform well in drama. And now, their stamina is challenged as they go action in the much-awaited Wag Mo Akong Galitin.
“Sobrang mas exciting na po yung ginagawa namin. Kung dati puro gags lang kami, ngayon masusubukan na namin ang drama, action, horror, atbp. Enjoy po kami at para pa rin kaming naglalaro,” ani Going Bulilit pioneer Nash Aguas.
For six-year-old Cha-cha Cañete, who first became famous because of her real estate commercial, her roles in the all-new Going Bulilit will definitely hone her acting skills. Like her famous “ates” in ABS-CBN such as Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, Angel Locsin, Cristine Reyes, etc., Cha-cha also wants to star her own teleserye someday.
“Sobrang marami pa po akong gustong matutunan sa pag-aartista,” the charming Cha-cha said.
Wag Mo Akong Galitin and Sa Puso ng Pasko are only few of the big offerings of Going Bulilit this yuletide season. Catch as the Bulilits visit “The Big Red” this December.

GMA-7 gears up with a primetime series of epic

“Amaya”, dubbed as an epicserye, is said to change the landscape of Philippine television in 2011. Also the first historical soap opera, Amaya topbills GMA’s Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.
It’s a story about Bai Amaya, Bai meaning “Princess” in Islam.
“The story dates back to the 1500s. We are coordinating with the historical department of the University of the Philippines to make sure that every detail on this show is accurate,” said Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA-7′s Vice President for Drama.
Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera‘s reel and real-life partner and her leading man in MariMar, Dyesebel, Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang and Endless Love, will not be part of this project. As everyone knows, Dingdong is Regine Velasquez‘ love interest in the romantic comedy primetime series “I Heart You Pare”, also slated to air early next year.
So who will be Marian’s leading man this time? According to a rumor, one Kapamilya hunk actor auditioned for the role. If ever he bags it, he will surely consider transferring to the Kapuso network in no time to join the ambitious and big-budgeted teleserye.
The teaser of “Amaya” and other upcoming Kapuso shows will be first seen in GMA-7′s annual cinema plug during the MMFF starting on Christmas day.

‘Star Circle Quest’ Casts

In 2004 and 2006, ABS-CBN launched a nationwide talent search that opened the doors for multi-talented kids like Nash Aguas, Sharlene San Pedro, Quintin Alianza and Mika dela Cruz to become the industry’s brightest kid superstars; that is, Star Circle Kid Quest. The quest went on in 2009 and consequently found new talented young gems, namely, Bugoy Carino and Xyriel Manabat.

This year, the magic goes on with Star Circle Quest for the Next Kiddie Superstars. Hosted by KC Concepcion, the program aims to discover fresh, young faces with amazing talent and charming personalities and consequently, develop them to become award-winning stars and good role models for kids. Moreover, Bugoy and Xyriel, two notable alumni of SCQ Kids, will join KC as co-hosts; they will be assisting the new SCQ Kid Questors throughout the journey towards superstardom.
But unlike the previous editions, the program is in search not for one but two Kiddie Superstars – a boy and a girl. For 12 weeks, the aspiring kiddie superstars will undergo a rigorous selection process to be facilitated by the quest’s credible jurors Direk Rowell Santiago, Vina Morales, and Gladys Reyes. They will be exposed to different talent and personality development workshops that would unleash their potential.
Who will be in and who will be out? Find out on Star Circle Quest for the Next Kiddie Superstars which will premiere on December 4, Saturday, after Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.

Alyna Secrets Revealed!

The calm after the storm brings more trouble to the lead characters of the top-rating afternoon drama “Precious Hearts Romances Presents Alyna” led by Shaina Magdayao (Alyna), Jason Abalos (Dominic), Sid Lucero (Rex), and Kaye Abad (Lilet).

Dominic’s discovery that Alyna was taking care of his brother Rex in secret led him to a jealous rage that made him doubt Alyna’s love for him once again. In the coming days, Alyna will see Dominic come back to his cold and indifferent self, while Rex’s wife Lilet continue to be on her bad side.

This bump in Dominic and Alyna’s relationship will also cause a strain between their friends Patrick (Paul Jake Castillo) and Liza (Beauty Gonzalez), who were starting to get-along with each other after pretending to be a couple.

Can Alyna win back Dominic’s trust? Or will their fight further bring Dominic closer to his former girlfriend Lilet? Watch the exciting developments on “Alyna,” weekdays at 4:30pm on ABS-CBN’s Hapontastic.

While a storm just hit “Alyna,” it has been all sunny for Sid, who is fresh from New York after attending the 2010 International Emmy Awards.

Sid walked the red carpet in the prestigious event, where he bumped into big-time TV personalities such as former American Idol Simon Cowell.

“He was very nice and gave me a couple of seconds of his time to take a photo…a few seconds of my life that I will never forget,” Sid shared. He said he also didn’t waste time and roamed the streets of the place famously known as the “City that never sleeps.”

Though he didn’t get to bring home the Best Actor trophy for his performance in “Dahil May Isang Ikaw,” Sid still brought honor to the country just by being nominated. Sid said hearing his name among the nominees gave him such an incredible feeling.

“I was muttering the name of the actor I wanted to win the whole time. And true enough, his name was called. When I heard his name the first thing that came into my mind was “holy cow, I still can’t believe I’m here,” he said.

With his Emmy experience, Sid said he realized how happy he is to have chosen this profession. “I love my job. I may lose all, even the job itself, but my love for it can never be taken away,” he said.

Catch Sid’s amazing acting prowess with the country’s other bright young actors Shaina Magdayao, Jason Abalos, and Kaye Abad in the afternoon drama of primetime caliber, “Precious Hearts Romances Presents Alyna” from Monday to Friday after “Juanita Banana” on ABS-CBN.
