ABS-CBN’s top primetime soap “Mara Clara” scores a nomination at the 2011 BANFF World TV Awards

The top-rating soap opera of ABS-CBN is competing against “Bread, Love and Dreams” of South Korea which is also known as “The Baker King” in Philippines (currently aired on GMA-7) under the category Soap Operas and Telenovelas. Mara Clara is also up against “Coronation Street” of UK and three soaps from the US: “Days of our Lives”, “Eva Luna” and “The Queen of the South.”

TV 5 Suspended!

TV5 on Wednesday, March 30, announced that it will impose a moratorium on the participation of minors in all of the network's contests and game shows.
The suspension was the network's reaction to an ongoing probe of the Commission on Human Rights and the Movies and Television Review and Classification Board and a complaint from the Department of Social Welfare and Development on the alleged maltreatment of a six-year-old contestant in the early evening program "Willing Willie."

In an advisory sent to Yahoo! OMG! Philippines, TV5 also indicated it was "conducting a thorough investigation on the incident." The network also said it has enforced "stricter guidelines on the appearance and performance of minors, particularly children, on all TV5 programs. In addition, it said all auditions on "Willing Willie" will "be supervised by TV5 representatives designated by the TV5 Ombudsman."

The advisory said TV5 Chief Legal Counsel Christine Ona has been designated as the network's Ombudsman. Ona is tasked to handle viewer complaints regarding its programs.

Furthermore, TV5 said it welcomes external probes on the matter.

"We welcome the hearings of the MTRCB and other bodies as opportunities to further thresh out the issues and find solutions that will address the many concerns that have been expressed," the statement said.

Nita Negrita (2011) Coming Soon on GMA 7

"Sobrang excited na kasi this time, sa role ko, magta-taekwondo ako, so magkakaroon ako ng workshop for taekwondo. Si Barbie nga, (nag-train) for gymnastics. Tuma-tumbling tumbling siya," kuwento ni Joshua. "At saka bagong story kasi, saka lahat bago, pati direktor, first time namin makakatrabaho si Direk [Gil Tejada Jr.].

Universal Leading Man Derek Ramsay is currently contemplating about transferring to other network.

Rumor has it that the Universal Leading Man Derek Ramsay is currently contemplating about transferring to other network.

Derek Ramsay‘s last tv project on ABS-CBN was Magkaribal which aired it’s final episode last November 5, 2010. His last movie was “I Love You, Goodbye” which was a 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival entry. These are the reasons why Derek is now the latest Kapamilya star being rumored to be transferring to other network.
So from being a Kapamilya, Derek is allegedly turning…Kapatid! But this is only hear say. Neither Derek nor TV5 has confirmed if the rumor is true.
Meanwhile, there is an earlier report that GMA-7 has allegedly offered a Kapamilya moreno hunk to be Marian Rivera‘s leading man in their upcoming epicserye “Amaya.” But the said hunk (some say it was Zanjoe Marudo) declined the offer.
So until now, the Kapuso network is still looking for a moreno hunk that will fit for the role as Amaya’s love interest. Even the scheduled shooting for Amaya was postponed because the management is still looking for the right actor to play the role. And they couldn’t start shooting until they find one.
Survivor Philippines winner JC Tiuseco and Bench model Jome Silayan and even Marian’s ex-boyfriend Ervic Vijandre were some of the names in the never ending list being considered for the role.
Perhaps Derek Ramsay‘s name will join the list specially now that he has no project with ABS-CBN and there’s a buzz that he is transferring to other network. And Derek, being dubbed as the Universal Leading Man as he is, has all the qualifications for the role in Amaya: hunk, moreno and a seasoned actor.
What do you think? Bagay ba si Derek at Marian?
